Inter-systemic loan
The cooperation of services aims at sharing the activities which contribute to the creation of economies of scale as well as to the functioning of the service itself.
The cooperation of services aims at sharing the activities which contribute to the creation of economies of scale as well as to the functioning of the service itself. In the specific case of libraries, sharing the catalogues was not sufficient, it was necessary to offer customers the possibility of having direct access to information on books and receiving the documents in the closest library as soon as possible. The role of interlibrary loan is to allow the delivery of the materials within the territory of the libraries. Since its creation in 1997, it has been considered the most useful and important tool for users. At present the Service includes a series of weekly deliveries to all the libraries of the System.
The cooperation with other similar services, operating in the neighbouring areas, allows the Service to expand its territory.
Nowadays, the area in which the Service operates comprehends most part of Southern Latium. A big complex of libraries which offers free services to all citizens and which represents an important place for students, where they can find all the materials they need for their research.

The libraries are often found inside historical buildings which were appositely restored for this purpose, thanks to municipal and regional funds. The buildings offer not only proper rooms for reading and consulting books as well as adequate internet access for research, but also rooms for various cultural activities and general other activities such as meetings, briefings, exhibitions, festivals, and film conferences. The two most important annual events organised by the libraries of the System are: Reading Promotion and the Reader Award. Reading Promotion aims at encouraging people to Read by focusing on three main elements: the Book, the Reader and the Author. The only moments when these three elements meet is during the meeting with the author that every library organises yearly according to the preferences and age of its customers and thus transforming a simple event like this into an activity that has an outstanding social impact.
Reader Award
The winners of different libraries, of the whole System and for the best inside flap have been awarded.
The main event of Reading Promotion is the annual Reader Award. Established in 2011, the contest, entitled “Premio al lettore… per il piacere di leggere” (Reader Award… for the pleasure of reading), not only awards both junior and senior readers with vouchers for the purchase of books but it also attribute the merit to the most significant comment among those sent from all the libraries of the System. Every year, between March and April, the libraries of the System organise some events to celebrate the most diligent readers. During the World Book Day, on the 23th of April, the libraries award every reader of every single library plus the junior and senior readers awarded for being the most diligent readers of all the System.
